Apple Business Manager makes it easy to automate device deployment, purchase/distribute apps and content, and create Managed Apple IDs for employees. The [[Apple Business Manager Device Enrollment|Device Enrollment Program (DEP)]] and the [[Apple Business Manager Apps and Books|Volume Purchase Program (VPP)]] are now completely integrated into Apple Business Manager. I have created a [[user-guides/Apple Business Manager|user guide for Apple Business Manager]] and [Apple's Enterprise IT Homepage](https://www.apple.com/business/enterprise/it/) is also a great resource. # Setup - Verifying the domain will prevent the issue of iForgot going to the `.appleid.com` or `.appleaccount.com` for password resets but will not kick off the personal account migration like enabling federation will. # Overview ## Devices Apple Business Manager enables automated device enrollment, giving organizations a fast, streamlined way to deploy corporate-owned Apple devices and enroll in MDM without having to physically touch or prepare each device. - Simplify the setup process for users by streamlining steps in Setup Assistant, ensuring that employees receive the right configurations immediately upon activation. - Enable a higher level of control for corporate-owned devices by using supervision, which provides additional device management controls that are not available for other deployment models, including non-removable MDM. - More easily manage default MDM servers by setting a default server that’s based on device type. - [[Apple Business Manager User Enrollment]] for BYOD - Per-App VPN connections ### Activation Lock^[[Activation Lock on Apple devices - Apple Support](https://support.apple.com/guide/deployment/activation-lock-depf4ab94ef1/1/web/1.0)] - Organization-linked - Requires Apple Business Manager. - Control Activation Lock from MDM server. - User-linked - Requires personal AppleID (not [[Managed Apple IDs|MAID]]) and for them to use [[Apple Find My|Find My]]. - Allows the user to lock an organization-linked device to their personal Apple ID _if_ the MDM solution has allowed Activation Lock. - Bypass codes allow for the organization to disable Activation Lock in the event that the user is unable to authenticate with their AppleID. ## Content Apple Business Manager enables organizations to easily buy content from the App Store in volume for iPhone, iPad, or Mac. - Purchase apps, books, and custom apps in bulk, including apps you develop internally.
