**Remote Monitors** are the System, Remote Network, and Remote Agent monitors that run externally from the Automate server. Descriptions of each type of remote monitor are as follows:
- **System Monitors** run on [[ConnectWise Automate Agent|agent]]-enabled computers and report on the operating conditions of both hardware and software components.
- **Remote Agent Monitors** run on [[ConnectWise Automate Agent|agent]]-enabled computers and report on the state of various components on those agent-enabled computers.
- **Remote Network Monitors** run on the probe and monitor network communication of network devices.

## State Based Monitors
State Based Monitoring allows for multiple thresholds resulting in a normal, warning, or error state.
> [!Note]
> This feature is available for remote monitors only. All of your existing monitors (including the default ConnectWise Automate® monitors) behave as they always have. Existing monitors must be edited to take advantage of State Based Monitoring.
