# Agent Offboarding ## Uninstall If the agent is online and communicating with the Management Console simply send the uninstall command (Actions > Endpoint Actions > Uninstall).^[[Uninstalling Agents from the Management Console (sentinelone.net)](https://usea1-pax8-exsp.sentinelone.net/docs/en/uninstalling-agents-from-themanagement-console.html#uninstalling-agents-from-themanagement-console)] I believe the best way to offboard a client is to send the uninstall command ## Uninstall Requests If a user tries to uninstall the SentinelOne Agent from an endpoint, an uninstall request is sent to the Management. You must approve the request in the Management Console. After you approve a request, users see a message that the request was approved. They can restart to complete the Agent uninstallation.^[[Uninstall Requests (sentinelone.net)](https://usea1-pax8-exsp.sentinelone.net/docs/en/uninstall-requests.html)] ## Decommission Decommission removes the Agent from the Management Console. If the Agent communicates with the Management again, the Management recommissions it and returns it to the Management Console.^[[Removing an Agent from the Console - Decommission  (sentinelone.net)](https://usea1-pax8-exsp.sentinelone.net/docs/en/removing-an-agent-from-the-console---decommission.html#removing-an-agent-from-the-console---decommission)] Decommission does not force an uninstall, but a decommissioned Agent can be permanently removed from the Console. The software is not uninstalled, but the Agent cannot communicate with the management. - Decommissioned Agents that are older than 3 months _without_ threats are removed. - Decommissioned Agents _with_ threats are removed after one year. # Agent Connection Issues [https://community.sentinelone.com/s/article/000006983](https://community.sentinelone.com/s/article/000006983) [https://your-console.sentinelone.net/docs/en/how-to-check-the-agent-connection-with-the-console.html](https://your-console.sentinelone.net/docs/en/how-to-check-the-agent-connection-with-the-console.html) To download the script from the Console Help, replace the "your-console" with the actual name of your console.
